Integrated Protection, livelihood and WASH Intervention

Within the Integrated Protection, Livelihood, and WASH Intervention project in Maqbana district in Taiz governorate, spearheaded by #NMO, and funded by #YHF, significant progress is being made on various fronts. In the field of food security and livelihood activities, the project aims, in coordination with stakeholders, for cash-for-work activities to pave roads, and to enhance economic empowerment. It also aims to conduct a comprehensive market feasibility assessment, and identify key sectors such as sewing, hairdressing, incense making, beekeeping and solar energy systems to select beneficiaries for vocational training transparently with active participation from community committees, paving the way for subsequent training on life skills and entrepreneurship for the same participants. Participants will receive critical support in the form of tools, materials and operational guidance to successfully start or expand their businesses, as #Nahda_Makers is committed to providing advice on market access and financing opportunities and ensuring sustainable economic growth within the community.
Furthermore, the project is working to have the Nahda Makers Organization establish water community committees in collaboration with local authorities, emphasizing the importance of community participation and project sustainability in the area.
In the field of WASH activities, the project is working on the careful preparation and rehabilitation of two water sources in Al-Jabana and Wadi Mathab in Al-Qahifa and Bani Hamir areas to improve access to clean water for the community.
Through collaborative efforts with local authorities, activities have been designed that effectively address the prevailing gaps, ensuring the relevance and impact of the intervention, emphasizing the project’s commitment to promoting community health and well-being, and enhancing the project’s comprehensive approach towards enhancing livelihoods and ensuring improved WASH within the community.
