Within the sectors of protection, livelihoods, water, environmental sanitation, and health, and with the support of #YHF, the #Nahda_Makers Organization delivered the the Integrated Protection, livelihood and WASH Intervention project in Taiz, Maqbanah District, in the presence of the Director of the Directorate, the administrative bodies for water projects, and community committees.
This project, which targets all residents of the targeted villages, which number 1,030 families, aims to provide the target community with integrated, multi-sectoral assistance to increase their resilience and improve protection and livelihoods through sustainable assistance.
The organization delivered the project, which consisted of the following activities:
1- Paving the road to Aqabat Al-Qasha’a with stones in Al-Qahifa Isolation, which is 161 meters long, with retaining walls on both sides of the road and a waterwheel to drain water through cash for work.
2- Rehabilitation of water sources and solar-powered pumping systems
The project also implemented many different activities that would increase their resilience and improve protection and livelihoods, as follows:
1- Implementing vocational training: for 100 beneficiaries, including 60 women, in sewing and embroidery - Beauty, hairdressing and hairdressing - making incense and perfumes.
And 60 men in (Electricity, wiring, and installation of solar systems- Beekeeping and honey production).
2- Life skills training: for 100 beneficiaries: including 60 women and 40 men.
3- Water quality control: This is to ensure safe drinking water reaches the targeted beneficiaries.
4- Establishing and training a water supply management committee: This is to ensure community participation and sustainability of the project through the formation and training of community water committees in coordination with the local authority.
5- Establish and train hygiene promotion teams: in order to promote hygiene and raise awareness in the targeted villages.
6- Hygiene promotion activities: by conducting training courses in the field of promoting community hygiene
7- Protection training: This is through psychological support for those affected by displacement or those affected by conflict, so that awareness sessions are conducted at each session for the purpose of recovery.
8- Spreading awareness of protection: This is done by raising awareness about the community
