NMO Implements an Emergency Shelter Response to Support Recent Displaced Families in Aden, Lahj, and Abyan

As part of the response to the growing humanitarian needs of newly displaced families, Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO), with support of #The_people_of_Japan and in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (#UNHCR), is implementing an emergency response to the recent displacement through the provision of shelter assistance and shelter repair kits in Aden, Lahj and Abyan Governorates.

This intervention is part of Protection and multi-sector assistance project for refugees and asylum-seekers, aiming to contribute to providing timely and appropriate shelter solutions for families affected by recent displacement, while responding to the needs of families who lack adequate shelter or require improvements to their existing living conditions.

The project targets the assessment of shelter needs for 3,500 households across the targeted governorates through two main interventions:

Emergency Shelter Kits (ESK):
The intervention targets 2,500 newly displaced households in Aden, Lahj, and Abyan who do not have adequate or safe shelter. Assistance will be provided through emergency shelter solutions, including emergency tents or cash assistance for shelter, in accordance with the approved response mechanism.

Shelter Repair Kits (SRK):
The intervention targets 1,000 households affected by rainfall and floods in Lahj and Abyan. These households have existing shelters that require repair, improvement, or expansion to help provide safer and more suitable living conditions.

These interventions are part of ongoing efforts to support affected and displaced families and enhance their access to safe and adequate shelter through an emergency humanitarian response that addresses their needs and contributes to improving their living conditions amid the challenging humanitarian circumstances they are facing.
