Nahda Makers Supports Access to Education for Refugee and Asylum-Seeking Children in Aden and Al Mukalla

As part of its efforts to enhance access to education and improve the school environment for refugee and asylum-seeking children, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and in partnership with the (#UNHCR), Nahda Makers (#NMO) is implementing activities under the project “Protection and Multi-Sector Assistance for Refugees and Asylum-Seekers in (Aden/Basateen and Hadramout/Al Mukalla).”

To date, the project has implemented several activities across six targeted schools in the two governorates, including the Back-to-School Campaign, which aims to raise community awareness of the importance of education and encourage out-of-school and out-of-school children to enroll and attend classes regularly. The campaign includes home visits, community activities, and meetings with parents and community leaders.

In addition, the project has distributed school kits and uniforms to targeted students. To date, 1,600 students in Aden and Al Mukalla have benefited from the distribution of school kits and uniforms, helping ease the financial burden on their families and support their continued access to education.

The project activities also include providing hygiene and cleaning materials to targeted schools, alongside stationery, teaching materials, and learning aids. These interventions aim to improve the school environment, promote health and hygiene practices, and ensure the availability of essential supplies to support the learning process.

These interventions are part of ongoing efforts to enhance educational opportunities for refugee and asylum-seeking children, reduce school dropout rates, and strengthen community awareness of children’s right to education, contributing to a more supportive and inclusive learning environment for children and their families.
