Education Restores Madin’s Passion for Learning

For children affected by displacement and crises, education is more than an opportunity to acquire knowledge. It provides them with a sense of stability, helps them rebuild their self-confidence, and opens new possibilities for their future.

Madin Mustafa Hadi Abdu Naji is a fourth-grade He is one of the displaced students who benefited from the remedial education programme implemented by Nahda Makers Organization after the difficult circumstances he experienced affected his academic performance and relationship with school.

Madin begins his day by attending school in the morning. After the regular school day ends, he returns home, where he helps his father on the farm and has lunch. He then goes back to school to attend the remedial classes. After completing his lessons, he spends some time with his friends or continues helping his father on the farm. Despite these daily responsibilities, Madin has become more committed to setting aside time for learning and reviewing his lessons.

Madin recalls the difficulties he faced before joining the remedial classes, saying: "I was unable to read and write well, and I did not have school supplies. I also had no one to help me study my lessons, and this made me dislike school and learning." These challenges made it difficult for him to participate effectively in class and negatively affected both his motivation and confidence in his ability to learn.

After joining the remedial education programme, Madin’s learning experience began to change significantly. He explains: "Through the remedial education programme, I learned to read and write better. The teachers supported me in my learning, and the organization provided me with a school bag and school supplies. This made me enjoy studying, and my academic performance improved greatly." Describing the change he experienced, he adds: "I can now read and write well, and I have come to love school and studying." For Madin, the most important benefits included receiving a school bag and essential learning materials, as well as having teachers who supported him in understanding and reviewing his lessons.

Education is no longer a difficult experience for Madin as it was in the past. Instead, it has become a pathway towards a clear ambition. He says: "I hope to become a teacher in the future." At the end of the interview, he expressed his appreciation to Nahda Makers Organization and the donor, saying: "Thank you very much."

Madin’s story demonstrates how remedial education, supportive teachers, and access to essential school supplies can restore a child’s confidence, strengthen their connection to school, and transform learning from a source of difficulty into the beginning of a dream for a better future.
