As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local leadership and support the active role of national organizations within the humanitarian system, Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO) organized a Validation workshop for the action plan for Enhancing L/NNGO Participation in Leadership and Making in the Humanitarian System in Aden, with the participation of 36 representatives from key national and international humanitarian actors in Yemen.
The workshop was held under the Humanitarian System Transformation through Local Humanitarian Leadership (HST-LHL) project, funded by the #Ministry_of_Foreign_Affairs_Netherlands, in partnership with #Oxfam and implemented by Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO).
The workshop aimed to engage key national and international humanitarian actors in consultations to review and enrich the draft action plan designed to strengthen the participation and leadership of Local and National Non-Governmental Organizations (L/NNGOs) in humanitarian coordination mechanisms and decision-making processes.
During the workshop, the draft action plan was presented to participants, followed by discussions and group consultations to review and enrich its key components, including the proposed activities, responsible stakeholders, timelines, and intended objectives and outcomes across the different areas of the plan.
The workshop brought together representatives of national non-governmental organizations, including Women-Led Organizations (WLOs), Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), alongside representatives from international organizations, United Nations agencies, Cluster Coordinators, thematic working groups, government entities, and the private sector.
The workshop forms part of broader efforts to support local humanitarian leadership and strengthen the meaningful role of local and national organizations within the humanitarian system, contributing to a more inclusive, balanced, and locally responsive humanitarian system.
