Funded by #CRS and in cooperation with local authorities, #Nahda_Makers Organization launched the Ma’an Aqwa: Disaster Risk Management in Khanfar District “Abyan” Governorate.
This project, which is being implemented, will target the local community in Abyan District through implementing many different activities that aim to build and enhance the capacities of local disaster risk management working groups, by organizing and streamlining risk management mechanisms in targeted communities.
This includes supporting communities most vulnerable to natural disasters such as droughts and floods and enabling them to implement effective community-led risk management initiatives.
It also requires developing comprehensive disaster mitigation strategies, increasing communities’ resilience to climate change, and strengthening their emergency response, which enhances the sustainability of communities and strengthens their resilience to future crises.
The organization had previously implemented the first project activity, which was the Planning and Budgeting Workshop for DRMWG in Khanfar District, Abyan Governorate, which targeted 12 trainees.
The training aims to enhance the level of awareness of trainees about disaster risk management methods, planning and budget raising for risk management in Khanfer District of “Abyan” governorate, by providing them with the knowledge and skills needed to deal effectively with natural hazards and emergencies.
The project also seeks to enable participants to understand mechanisms for preventing and mitigating the impact of disasters and to strengthen their capacities for rapid and coordinated response in the event of crises.
It is noteworthy that the project comes within the food security and livelihoods sector and aims to make communities in those climate-affected areas more resilient to the effects of climate change.
