Within the food security and livelihoods sector, the #Nahda_Makers organization concluded the project which is “Help Communities Protect their Agricultural Assets in the Face of Challenging Climate Conditions and Improve their Resilience”, with support of #AVAAZ
This project, which was implemented in Bayhan District - Shabwa Governorate, worked to build irrigation channels, diversions and water barriers so that they perform their desired function in the correct manner, such as irrigation channels and dams to protect agricultural assets through (cash for work), and to acquire appropriate skills and experience, which benefited a total of 4,827 individuals.
During its period, the project carried out the following activities:
- Construction of the Jabyon water defenses (Wadi Al-Khair - Ubayyah village) + (Wadi Al-Nahr - Al-Budaiya village).
- Employing 100 beneficiaries to complete the project.
- Distribution of cash transfer to the targeted families during the project period.
- Provide the materials, tools, and safety equipment necessary to complete the work.
- Rehabilitation and construction of the water channel and the diversion dam (Al-Gabioni and Al-Hajari) for water in Wadi Bihan - Al-Rabei village.
- Holding workshops for stakeholders.
- Training beneficiaries, as well as members of the community committee, on how to maintain and protect the assets.
All of this aims to reduce the risks of climate impact, support the local community, and acquire appropriate skills and experiences, which will help raise the standard of living and acquire appropriate skills for the betterment of the agricultural region.
