Hope from the suffering dawn

The first time we met Naysan, she was returning home from school. There was a warm smile that lit her pretty face, we did not realize that behind that pure smile, there is deep agony. Naysan is the middle sibling of her two brothers. She is twelve years old and has been living with her uncle for six years.

Naysan sighed:" My father died of cancer, then my mother got married. We moved to live with my uncle ever since "

Mr. Adel Kulaib Sulaiman Kulaib, a fisherman with 9 children and his wife. He adopted his nephews and niece after their mother got married.

Mr. Kulaib said " Naysan and her brothers are my own children, my family now consists of 15 members. He also, added " Because my family is very big and I want all my children to access their rights in studying and going to school like other children who are in their age, I did not have enough money to buy them bags and notebooks because of other needs of food and shelter.

Adel sighed deeply and continued:" In order not stop them from studying and ensure their rights in education I used to collect old, used notebooks from the previous years and take away the used papers to recycle them. Also, I brought them a plastic bag to use as their bags which negatively affected them psychologically. Each time I am not able to provide them with school materials, I feel pain.  

Naysan happily added" I am now happy to carry a school bag instead of a plastic bag! ,  I am also happy to be back in school after the new classrooms have been built instead of studying in outdoors, under the hot rays of sun, and on the stairs " 

Mr. Adel concluded: "I am grateful for Nahda Makers Organization role which contributed in alleviating the suffering of displaced and orphans by supporting the education which was an obstacle. Gratitude from the heart to Nahda Makers Organization.

Nahda Makers Organization conducted an "Education Support Project for IDPs" in Al Khokha and At Tuhayta districts, Al Hudaidah governorate with funding Yemen Humanitarian Fund (#YHF), which is based on building 24 temporary learning classrooms for eight schools, two in Al-Tahita and six in Al-Khoukha, in addition to the rehabilitation of the targeted schools, ensuring water and environmental sanitation facilities and distributing furniture for the new classes, conducted training for teachers and parents, distributing students' & teachers kits, and providing incentives for volunteer teachers. A field-monitoring visit was conducted in targeted areas in the period from the 05th to the 09th of March 2021.
