لم تكن قرية الخريبة في مركز محافظة الضالع تمتلك مكانًا مخصصًا لرمي القمامة.. كما لم يكن أهلها على دراية بطرق وأساليب التخلص من المخلفات.
حيث كانت المساحات الخالية في القرية تتلقف المخلفات وأكوام القمامة، حتى وإن كانت بجانب المنازل.
مما جعل الوضع الصحي في القرية مهدد بالتدهور لولا التدخلات التي نفذتها منظمة صناع النهضة بدعم من لجنة الإنقاذ الدولية، فتم فعليًا إنقاذ الوضع المتدري وتخصيص مكان محدد لرمي القمامة والمخلفات، وتعريف الأهالي بطرق كيفية التخلص من النفايات.
فلم تعد القمامة متراكمة في كل مكان كما كانت، أو جوار المنازل، وانحصرت في مكان واحد ومخصص؛ حفاظًا على الصحة العامة؛ ومنعًا لانتشار الأمراض والأوبئة.
