Nahda Makers Implements Vocational Training Programs to Empower 60 Men and Women from Youth in Tuban District, Lahj Governorate

As part of its efforts to enhance livelihoods and promote the economic empowerment of men and women, Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO) implemented a vocational training activity in Tuban District, Lahj Governorate, under the Yemen Joint Response (YJR) project, funded by the Dutch Relief Alliance (#DRA) in partnership with #Cordaid.

The activity targeted 60 men and women from youth, including 36 males and 24 females, through specialized vocational training programs designed based on an assessment of local labor market needs. The training aimed to equip participants with practical skills to improve their employment prospects, enhance their income opportunities, and promote self-reliance.

The training programs covered a range of technical and vocational fields, including air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance, motorcycle repair and maintenance, solar energy systems installation and maintenance, food processing and pastries, and veterinary and animal health. These fields were selected to provide trainees with skills aligned with local market demands and open new opportunities for employment and productive activities.

The activity included intensive theoretical and practical training courses, followed by an apprenticeship phase in local workshops and farms. This approach enabled participants to apply their acquired knowledge and skills in real working environments, strengthening their professional readiness and ability to practice their chosen trades effectively.

The activity focused on promoting the economic empowerment of women and youth, expanding their access to income-generating opportunities, and contributing to reducing unemployment by developing vocational skills and encouraging participants to enter the labor market or establish their own small businesses.
