#Nahda_Makers continues implementing the activities of the project “Life-changing Interventions for Females to Thrivein in Taiz Governorate, funded by the #European_Union and in partnership with #ZOA. As part of this effort, a community consultation workshop with community representatives was conducted with title “Gender-Based Violence and Its Impact on Early Recovery” in the districts of Al-Qahirah, Al-Mudhaffar, and Sala. The workshop included the participation of 29 community representatives, civil society organizations, and community influencers, with joint participation from Resalty Foundation for Women Development and Madani Development Foundation.
The workshop coincided with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, aiming to enhance advocacy and raise awareness about the rights of women and girls. It included discussions on the concept of gender-based violence, its forms, and its direct impact on early recovery efforts. The discussions highlighted that the continuation of violence hinders capacity-building and community stability, and that empowering and protecting women is a fundamental pillar for the success and sustainability of the recovery phase.
The workshop also included analytical sessions using SWOT analysis to examine the local context, identify current challenges and needs, and formulate recommendations that can be transformed into awareness campaigns and future steps within the upcoming phases of the project.
This activity aims to understand the situation of gender-based violence and the emerging issues in the targeted areas, analyze the relationship between early recovery and violence against women and its importance for community development, and enhance community participation in raising awareness and providing recommendations based on the local context in Taiz. In addition, it seeks to analyze the challenges and translate them into awareness campaigns and future actions that can be adopted in the next stages of the project.
