#NMO_ORG Distributes the Pilot Version of the Early Childhood Education Curriculum Books in Kindergartens in Aden

As part of the “Rebuilding Early Childhood Education in Yemen” Project, and with funding from #CRS, #Nahda_Makers implemented the distribution of the Pilot Version of the Early Childhood Education Curriculum Books in Kindergartens (student workbooks and teacher guides) across several districts in Aden Governorate.

The activity targeted 1,880 children in four pilot kindergartens, in addition to 85 teachers/caregivers who received teacher guides along with student books, as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of early childhood education and implement the newly developed national curriculum.

The development of the Early Childhood Curriculum was led by the Ministry of Education and the Education Office in Aden. The process went through several stages, including forming a technical working group, developing the curriculum framework, establishing a curriculum authoring team, and preparing student workbooks and teacher guides for three levels (lower, middle, and upper). It also included review and enrichment workshops, as well as local and international validation before final approval.

The main objective of this activity is to ensure the delivery of the new books to children and teachers in the pilot kindergartens at the start of the academic year, enabling the implementation of the pilot curriculum and improving teaching and learning practices in early childhood education.

Upcoming activities under the project include completing the distribution of textbooks after printing additional quantities, monitoring the implementation of the curriculum through field supervisors and educational inspectors, and conducting follow-up workshops to review teachers’ feedback and further develop the curriculum after the pilot phase — all as part of a continuous effort to achieve balanced and high-quality education for children.
