As part of the Food Security and Livelihoods Program, the #NMO_ORG continues to implement the activities of the "Food to Resilience" project in #Hadhramaut Governorate. The organization recently implemented the activity " Rehabilitation of main and subsidiary canals in addition to Agricultural land protection from erosion " with funding from (#KSRelief), and in partnership with (#WFP), with the aim of strengthening the resilience of agricultural communities and protecting their livelihoods.
The activities were divided into two main sections:
Section One: Rehabilitation of main and secondary canals in the areas of Seiyun, Shibam, Wadi Al-Ain, Douan, and Rakhyah, with a length of approximately 3,922 cubic meters of stone buildings and gabions.
Section Two: Protecting agricultural soil from erosion in Douan, Rakhyah, and Al-Qatn, with a total of 2,218 cubic meters of stone and gabion buildings.
These projects aim to:
Making optimal use of floodwaters and redirecting them to agricultural lands, protecting agricultural soil from erosion, reducing damage caused by floods, and enhancing agricultural stability in the targeted villages and areas.
674 workers from the same areas participated in these activities, contributing to the enhancement of temporary employment opportunities. The number of direct beneficiaries of the activity reached 674 people, while the number of indirect beneficiaries reached approximately 22,500 individuals from the villages and surrounding areas.
These facilities help protect farms, homes, and villages below them from the devastating effects of floods, enhancing food security and achieving sustainable agricultural production.
