As part of the 16th Conference of the Parties (#COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), under the theme: "From Job Creation to Land Preservation: Youth at the Forefront of DLDD Solutions," NAHDA MAKERS Organization participated in the special session, "Youth Leading the Way."
This session focused on the transformative role of youth in addressing the challenges of desertification, land degradation, and drought. It also emphasized the importance of creating decent green jobs as a means to empower young people, enhance sustainable land management, and build resilience to climate change.
During the session, #NAHDA_MAKERS joined global experts, policymakers, and youth representatives to explore practical strategies linking youth empowerment with environmental sustainability. The session's key topics included:
- Innovative approaches to sustainable land use and their role in creating future-proof jobs.
- Integrating youth into the green economy and climate adaptation efforts.
- Policies and programs that support young entrepreneurs in advancing land restoration initiatives.
The event aimed to strengthen youth empowerment as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
This session provided a vital platform to amplify youth voices, share successful models, and advocate for policies addressing desertification and drought challenges while fostering green economic growth.
