#NMO_ORG Concludes the Institutional Capacity Assessment and annual district capacity Development Plans program

Within the Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen - #SIERY project, which is funded by the #European_Union, and Implemented by the #UNDP , through Nahda Makers, in coordination with the Ministry of Local Authority, the "Institutional Capacity Assessment and Institutional Capacity Assessment and annual district capacity Development Plans program” has been implemented.

This program, which worked to strengthen and empower the local authority of the targeted governorates "Aden - Hadramout - Taiz - Marib - Lahj" through the establishment of various workshops for facilitators at the governorate level for 60 individuals (42 men and 18 women), who were trained and built on institutional capacity assessment for the purpose of identifying Institutional and individual gaps in (22) districts and address the growing local government system gaps in terms of capabilities, resources and outcomes.

As part of this program plan, it later worked to implement the second phase, which is training facilitators at the district level, amounting to 220 people (148 men and 72 women), in building their capacities on institutional capacity assessment and data collection on institutional capacity assessment at local authority office, which aimed to make a systematic assessment of the gaps and the work of a priority plan to assess institutional capacity.

This program, which took place during the previous period, worked on discussing and addressing several areas, including the following:

  • Basic functions of local authorities.
  • Providing basic services.
  • Emergency needs such as conflict resolution, the need to provide humanitarian assistance, disaster management, and address issues related to internally displaced persons, among others.
  • Economic recovery.

The project is still continuing in its plan to empower local authorities through the establishment of various workshops, all of which aim to increase support for local authorities to maintain and increase equal access to public services and to promote social cohesion and sustainable recovery.
