في وسط قرية حواد، بمديرية الشعيب، محافظة الضالع، تقع البئر الوحيدة التي تزود أهالي القرية بمياه الشرب، واستخدامات الطهي وسقي المواشي.
غير أن مصدر المياه الوحيد للأهالي بات ملوثاً وغير صالح للاستخدام، بعد أن أصبح مرتعاً للأحجار والعلب البلاستيكية والقصدير والأحذية والملابس القديمة التي يرمي بها الأطفال في قلب البئر.. الأمر الذي تسبب بانتشار مرض الإسهال بين الأهالي، مما شكل تهديداً لحياتهم.
وعقب نحو شهرين من التوعية المجتمعية الحثيثة التي تبنتها منظمة صناع النهضة بدأ أهالي القرية يدركون خطورة الأمر، وضرورة أن تكون مياههم آمنة ضماناً لصحتهم ومستقبل أطفالهم.. وشرعوا في تنظيف المياه الملوثة التي كانوا يشربونها من تلك البئر، من خلال مبادرات شبابية ذاتية من أبناء القرية.. حتى أضحت مياه البئر نظيفة وآمنة.
