Activities continue under the project “The Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture and Food Security” in Al-Salw and Al-Mawasit districts of Taiz Governorate, funded by #KfW, implemented by #UNDP, and in partnership with #Nahda_Makers, as part of ongoing efforts to support sustainable development and strengthen the resilience of agricultural communities in the targeted areas.
In this context, the project recently implemented a series of Soft Skills and Entrepreneurship for women in the two districts. A total of 23 training courses were conducted, including 12 courses in Al-Mawasit benefiting 244 women, and 11 courses in Al-Salw benefiting 192 women, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 436 women.
These trainings aim to economically and socially empower women by strengthening their capacities in small business management and entrepreneurship, contributing to improved livelihoods and increased women’s participation in economic and community activities, particularly in agricultural environments affected by water scarcity.
The activities also contribute to the project’s capacity-building and water governance objective by strengthening the institutional and technical capacities of the National Water Resources Authority, the Agriculture and Irrigation Offices, and Water User Associations and Committees in the targeted areas. This includes ensuring community ownership and accountability for operation and maintenance, improving water resource monitoring mechanisms, and expanding the meaningful participation of women in water management.
This project forms part of broader efforts to enhance the resilience of agricultural systems and food security in rural communities through an approach that focuses on integrated water resources management and sustainable water use.
