As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen local humanitarian leadership and empower national organizations, #Nahda_Makers (#NMO) recently conducted consultative workshops in the governorates of Taiz and Marib, within the framework of the project “Humanitarian System Transformation through Local Humanitarian Leadership (HST-LHL) funded by the #Ministry_of_Foreign_Affairs_of_the_Netherlands and implemented in partnership with #Oxfam.
The workshops targeted local and national humanitarian organizations, including women-led organizations, and focused on analyzing the current participation of these organizations in humanitarian coordination mechanisms, as well as discussing the key challenges they face in leadership and decision-making processes.
The Taiz workshop brought together representatives from 54 civil society organizations, while the Marib workshop engaged 40 organizations working in the humanitarian field. Both workshops provided a platform for experience sharing and for discussing practical approaches to enhance local presence and leadership within the humanitarian system.
These workshops come as part of a series of consultative sessions organized by the project across four main governorates — Aden, Taiz, Hadramout, and Marib — with the goal of building a knowledge base that strengthens the capacity of local organizations to play a leading and decision-making role, and to analyze the level of participation of local and women-led organizations in humanitarian coordination mechanisms, while identifying the barriers limiting their effective engagement.
