The village of Al- Mushraa Become Clean

Al- Mushraa village is located in Lawder District in Abyan Governorate, This village suffers from a lack of a Sanitation network and no specific site for throwing garbage. Children in the village make up half of the population; they play and have fun near their homes, where also this garbage is located.

Abu Abdullah declared they collect rubbish near the houses and then burn it. This causes a big problem such as pollution due to poisonous gases resulting from the burning, as the garbage brings mosquitoes and is the cause of many diarrheal diseases and Malaria and Dengue Fever.

Ali a high school student said he goes to school every day and passes a large pile of rubbish near the school and there are many mosquitoes in the area.

Abu Ahmed declared (The Integrated Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Response Project for Internally Displaced Persons, Returnees and Host Communities in High Malnutrition Areas in Lahj and Abyan) came at the right time as it prompted all the villagers to take part in the village cleaning campaign and to instilled  in their hearts the love of volunteering, And charity work After the Nahda Makers organization (NMO) selected volunteers for the hygiene teams, the residents of the village felt  sadly that they left their village mired in rubbish piles and that the campaign awakened the spirit of collective action.

Abu Ahmed said that the Nahda Makers organization provided the village with the tools for cleaning and small truck for transporting the collected waste. He said that the organization has proposed that a piece of land be allocated outside the village to be a garbage collector where it is disposed of and burned. All the garbage was lost and the village was perfect.

The wonderful effect is that the villagers became aware of the importance of cleanliness, and it became a regular behavior and everyone was throwing garbage in the designated area to throw garbage,The Total number of beneficiaries of this project is 2675 Including 702 women and 573 girls. and the village's cleanliness also reflected the health of the population there, as the incidence of diseases caused by piles of garbage decreased.
