Nahda Makers organization ( NMO ) Summary:
NMO is a humanitarian organization implementing several program in WASH, Food Security and livelihood, Shelter, Education and child protection Program in Yemen since 2012, with funding from different donors.
Nahda Makers Organization is looking for an efficient and qualified person to fill the post of Engineer Assistant to carry out the following tasks:
Main tasks:
• Conduct assessments, calculating BOQs and drawings as well as estimating the budget of the rehabilitation process.
• Conduct regular field visits to construction sites and oversee rehabilitation activities to assess compliance with design, drawings and specifications.
• Monitor the compliance of contractors and subcontractors of construction activities with the established technical requirements, procedures and quality standards.
• Support the Engineer Officer to prepare and calculating the bill of quantities as well as estimating the budget of the upgrading and enhancement process of IDPs sites and camps and schools.
• Support the Engineer Officer to prepare and drawings of the IDPs sites ,damage houses and schools.
• Prepare progress and technical reports.
• Analyze project progress and determine expected delinquency.
• Ensure project bidding bill of quantities are accurate and reasonable and within the market price range.
• Participate in technical need assessment mission for new projects.
• Represent NMO with communities, local authorities, site partners, and other stakeholders.
• Establish & train representative and inclusive community-based site management committees at sites.
• Monitor sites to identify needs, gaps in service provision, and duplication of efforts at IDP sites and schools
• Assist other NMO teams with conducting assessments and distributions shelter/NFIs.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Engineer Officer in order to advance NMO's interventions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• University degree in Civil engineering or related field.
• Two years of experience in international and/or local NGO, construction and rehabilitations works.
• Previously worked in houses or service facilities rehabilitation projects, and has conducted assessments, calculating BOQs as well as estimating the budget of the rehabilitation process.
• Knowledge of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM).
• Excellent representation, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel PowerPoint, and AutoCAD or other design software.
• Ability to spend extended periods of time in field conditions.
• Solid planning skills and dealing with implementation challenges and finding solutions.
• Good in written and verbal English and Arabic is required.
• Problem solver and, hard working with ability to work under pressure.
