NMO is a registered national NGO with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor No. 284. Our mission is to take the lead to empower communities in Yemen through humanitarian response and sustainable development programs in a professional way through effective partnerships. NMO started its activity in Yemen since 2012 and has been implementing projects in 5 sectors namely FSL, Education, WASH, Shelter, and Governance and skill-building.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to NMO on all protection-related activities.
  • Work on developing mechanisms and activities for mainstreaming protection in the organization's actions and submitting proposals and perceptions related to.
  • Manage a consultative process with government counterparts, partners, and persons of concern to develop and implement a comprehensive protection and solutions strategy addressing the specific protection needs of women and men, children, youth and older persons, and persons with disabilities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor community-based protection strategies and ensure systematic application and integration of participatory and community-based approaches in protection and solutions planning, programming and strategies.
  • Oversee the management of individual protection cases including those on GBV and child protection.
  • Coordinate the preparation of, implement and oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all protection activities.
  • Research, collect and disseminate relevant protection information and good practices to enhance protection delivery.
  • Develop the protection capacity of organization staffs to assume their responsibilities vis-à-vis all persons of concern through protection training, mainstreaming and related activities.
  • Provide ongoing protection analysis (including aspects of conflict analysis, gender, and risk management) and lessons learned from project experience to inform the project managers, program managers, and head of program in improved program development, implementation.
  • Entering and managing data for critical cases that require complete confidentiality in managing the data.
  • Developing and updating a database of service providers in the areas of the organization's actions and strengthening relations with them.
  • Communicate with service providers, whether governmental organizations or institutions, to refer cases that require access to services not provided by the organization, and to follow up on these cases obtaining the required services.
  • Submitting statistical reports on the monitored cases, the cases that were referred, and the results of the referrals.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals for protection projects, in coordination with the grants team.
  • Participate periodically in the various humanitarian clusters, workshops, meetings, and related trainings.
  • Active participation in periodic meetings and meetings in the organization as well in the protection cluster meetings.
  • Participate in the activities of evaluating interventions and assessing the level of the organization's commitment to applying the principle of protection in its programs, including conducting interviews, focus groups, questionnaires, etc.
  • Maintaining confidentiality, security, and protection of case data and ensuring the level of security in the system used.
  • Conduct frequent field visits to assess the level of availability of protection mainstreaming services.
  • Preparing the required reports and sending them to the line manager.
  • Archiving data and documents, both written and script, according to the archiving system used in the organization.
  • Invest in learning opportunities and resources and work on self-development of professional competence.
  • Raise suggestions and perceptions that would raise the level of performance in the organization and inform the concerned persons of any matters that might affect the integrity, impartiality, and reputation of the organization.
  • Performing other duties related to the job field as requested by the line manager
  • Compliance with the systems and procedures of Nahda Makers Organization.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A university degree in social sciences, law, or any other relevant subject .
  • 2 years of experience working with I/NGOs in the protection sector, with prior project management experience.
  • Prior familiarity with the implementation of protection projects preferred (solid technical knowledge required).
  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of protection issues and specifically NMO's approach to and role in protection work including analysis and advocacy.
  • Understanding of the Protection Cluster and other protection coordination mechanisms and the roles and mandates of key protection actors.
  • Analytical skills and strategic thinking including experience developing written analysis and strategies for protection.
  • Strong organization, collaboration, representation, and negotiation skills, and demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge and skills of computer and prior experience working with smart data collection tools such as KOBO, and respect confidentiality of data and information.
  • Strong knowledge of computer skills particularly in Microsoft applications, MS Office, and data collecting tools using KOBO TOOLBOX and analysis software such as SPSS.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently, as well as part of the team.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and meeting management skills.
  • Strong planning skills and dealing with implementation challenges and finding solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of different working standards and ethics including sphere standard.
