NMO is a registered national NGO with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor No. 284. Our mission is to take the lead to empower communities in Yemen through humanitarian response and sustainable development programs in a professional way through effective partnerships. NMO started its mission in Yemen in 2012, and has been implementing projects in 5 sectors namely FSL, Education and Child Protection, WASH, Shelter, and Governance and Capacity Building.
Role and responsibilities
Project Officer is responsible for all the stages of a project's life cycle and will manage duties such as managing resources, monitoring project execution, reporting to senior management, ensuring a continuous flow of information among project team members, and assigning tasks.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
- Management and support of Education and Child protection project activities.
- Adherence to Education and child protection tools and handbooks and other NMO policies.
- Contribute to Education and child protection proposal development and provide input on needs and gaps assessments from relevant area of operations.
- Managing budget and work plan and ensuring that the project implementation is according to the log frame and on track.
Specific responsibilities
Project Assessments
- Participate in community needs assessments for the design of new education projects.
- Lead the on-going assessment of beneficiary needs during project implementation and recommend actions and changes to improve the impact of project activities on beneficiaries.
Project Planning
- Develop project implementation plans including the activity plan, procurement plan.
- Update the project implementation plans on a monthly basis to provide status of implementation of planned activities.
Project Implementation
- Prepare procurement requests, Terms of Reference or Concept Notes for activities and follow up with relevant departments for approval.
- Lead the implementation of education activities in the target area in line with the approved budget, log frame, project implementation plans.
- Lead community mobilization for assessments, enrollment and other education stakeholder meetings.
- Lead the distribution of education materials, hygiene kits and PPE to beneficiaries.
- Supervise the installation of solar power system/minor rehabilitation in the targeted school.
- Supervise the training sessions and the distributions of the schools' materials.
- Manage different campaigns such as community-based protection and COVID-19 awareness.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor and follow the indicators tracking table and prepare all means of verification post each activity.
- Supervises the data collection and submit all needed data to the Data Management Team on regular basis.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- University degree in Education, Social Sciences, or any relevant fields.
- At least one year of relevant professional experience with INGOs/NGOs, including direct implementation of education programming.
- Significant experience leading or facilitating structured training sessions.
- Experience in working with formal school teachers.
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts; ability to remain calm and professional intense situations.
- Knowledge of English and Arabic.
- Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work diligently both independently and in a team setting.
- Previous experience in supervising teams.
- Commitment to improving the lives of children in the school and community.
- Strong understanding of the contextual situation related to education.
- Strong organizational skills.
