Position title:  Rainwater harvesting tanks local consultant

Duration: 4 months

Work location: Engineer consultant in Al-Qabbytah district, Lahj governorate

Nahda Makers organization (NMO) Summary:

NMO is a registered national NGO with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor No. 284. Our mission is to take the lead to empower communities in Yemen through humanitarian response and sustainable development programs in a professional way through effective partnerships. NMO started its activity in Yemen since 2012, and has been implementing projects in 5 sectors namely FSL, Education, WASH, Shelter, and Governance and skill-building

NMO is looking for an efficient and qualified person to fill the post of Rainwater harvesting tanks local consultant to carry out the following tasks:

Job Purpose: The purpose of the job is to supervise and follow up the construction process of the rainwater harvesting units on daily basis, and complete his tasks according to workplan and in line with the general timeline of the project.

Tasks and key Responsibilities:

1- Determine the rainwater harvesting units’ locations in the project’s areas based on the instructions of the project officer and the project manager and measure the dimensions of those harvesting tanks. 

2- Submit a detailed report explaining the harvesting units’ situations that will be covered under the project.

3- Prepare the contacts that obligate the owners of the harvesting units to achieve their tanks (Excavation, constructing, plastering, casting, providing materials, etc.), and sign them before starting the work with explaining the work mechanism and the payment way.

4- Select skilled technicians to help and participate in supervising on works.

5- Follow up and supervise on implementing all RWHUs’ construction works according to the common technical specifications and the project’s manager and officer instructions.

6- Document RWHUs’ implementation works through all stages with photos

7- Prepare the payments sheets of beneficiaries based on the actual achievement rate in the field and plan for the next payment installment.

8- Prepare the handover of the project site along with the community committee.

9- Prepare the contacts of the technicians supported with the I.D and the C.V.

10- Prepare the timeline to implement the project within the contact’s duration. 

11- Conduct the RWHUs survey in the field according to the instructions of the project officer or the project manager and compare it with the initial study.

12- Follow up the technicians and manage tasks between them to smoothen the implementation process 

13- Issue the first and second warnings and notice of cancellation for RWHUs’ owners

14- Inform by an immediate report about any updates may have any negative effects or be a cause in disruption the implementation process of the project without waiting to the next regular report due date

15- Prepare the initial handover with the RWHU’s owner and the organization supervisor

16- Submit a report every two weeks to the project manager and officer on the dates of 3 and 18 of each month(max)includes:

◘  The implementation progress and conduct evaluation on that.

◘ Number of skilled and unskilled labors who work in the project 

◘ Type and quantity of materials used in the project such as cement, steel, and doors, etc…for the implemented units

◘ Type of medium and heavy equipment and number of days of their works 

◘ The achieved works clauses and achievement percentages and compare them with the time schedule. 

Qualifications and job experience:

1- Degree in civil engineering.

2- At least 1-year experience in rainwater harvesting tanks’ construction projects.

Skills:

1- The ability to deal with computer programs

2- High coordination and supervision skills.

3- Ability to write reports in Arabic.

3- He must be a permanent resident of the targeted community.
