#NMO_ORG is reclaiming agricultural lands in Hadramaut

In partnership with #WFP, funded by #BMZ, in partnership with #NMO, and with the contribution of local communities, the multi-year livelihoods project continues to implement its activities in Hadramaut Governorate.

This project, which is being implemented in several directorates in the governorate, targets 1,290 families of farmers and workers related to agriculture and other professions in Seiyun - Shibam - Al-Qatn - Wadi Al-Ain.

Recently, the project worked on implementing the reclamation activity, which targets 288 farms in the targeted areas. This activity is considered the most important activity currently implemented by the project, by clearing agricultural lands in those areas of trees, harmful weeds, and preparing the lands for agriculture.

This activity will also plant 288 farms with crops (corn, alfalfa, sesame, onions, zucchini, okra, eggplant, palm trees, lemons, and henna), and provide all necessary for agriculture, including fertilizer, pesticides, and seeds, in addition to irrigation systems and monitoring the crop until harvest time.

The project will also produce 160 tons of organic fertilizers and distribute them to farmers, create 20 agricultural tunnels and distribute them with the appropriate type, provide 4 agricultural reserves with agricultural machinery, and will also conduct 16 sessions of agricultural orientation for farmers in those districts.

It is noteworthy that the project is based on several different activities that it is implementing, which will work to strengthen resilient communities in the targeted districts, empower youth and females, enhance climate adaptation, and enable families to graduate from humanitarian aid to self-sufficiency by improving the standard of living of families in the targeted villages and raising their capabilities and raising the capabilities of youth through experience gained in food-for-assets or food-for-training programmes.
