Job Description
Reporting to CBI Officer
Sector: Shelter/CCCM/Protection
Location: Taiz (8) in (Salah, Al Qahera, Al Mothaffar, Jabal Habashi, Maqbanah, Al Ma’afer, Ash Shemaytain, Saber Al Mawadem, At Taizeyah & Al Mesrakh), Abyan (2) in (Zinjibar, Khanfar)

NMO is a registered national NGO with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor No 284. Our mission is to take the lead to empower communities in Yemen through humanitarian response and sustainable development programs in a professional way through effective partnerships. NMO started its activity in Yemen since 2012 and has been implementing projects in 5 sectors, namely FSL, Education and Child Protection, WASH and Health, Shelter and CCCM, and Governance and skill-building.

NMO is looking for an efficient and qualified person to fill the post of Protection Monitor to carry out the following tasks:
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conducting daily field visits to assess protection concerns and needs at the household and community levels.
- Assisting the CBPN Supervisor and CBI Officer in implementing activities within the intervention areas. This includes monitoring the mobilization of CBPNs, providing guidance to CBPNs as they engage with communities to identify vulnerable families for assessments and contact persons for interviews and focus group discussions. You will also facilitate referrals for vulnerable individuals requiring legal assistance, highlight protection issues, and strengthen NMO's relationship with IDP and host community leaders and local actors through regular field visits.
- Supporting the CBI Officer in developing monthly work plans for field visits to ensure consistent presence and conducting regular monitoring and assessments. You will also document information from all IDP sites within the intervention areas and manage contact lists of sites and community focal points to ensure comprehensive and extensive protection monitoring with a strong outreach to the IDP community.
- Conducting rapid assessments in the field with the protection monitoring teams, as needed and requested, to monitor the protection needs of newly arrived IDPs. You will then draft weekly reports based on the observations and findings from these field visits.
- Providing on-the-job training and coaching to members of the Community Based Protection Network on various protection-related topics under the guidance of the CBI Officer.
- Utilizing smart tools for data collection, with direct guidance from the CBI Officer and Data Management staff, to ensure precise and accurate data collection. You will also ensure timely uploads of the collected data onto the PMT KOBO tool.
- Assisting the CBI Officer in organizing and planning activities, providing feedback, and keeping them informed of ongoing activities or any changes.
- Sharing information with the CBI Officer to report on trends and changes in protection concerns. You will ensure safe and confidential data management and guarantee data consistency by using the provided data collection formats to facilitate smooth reporting mechanisms.
- Assisting the CBI Officer in maintaining smooth communication and coordination with local authorities, community leaders, and other humanitarian actors on the ground.
- Promptly flagging any challenges or constraints encountered during field activities to the Activities Coordinator and assisting in suggesting suitable solutions and mitigating measures.
- Performing any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Position Requirements:
- A university degree in social sciences or a related field.
- At least one year of experience working with NGOs, particularly in the protection sector.
- Experience in protection in humanitarian/recovery settings, including complex and volatile contexts.
- Familiarity with humanitarian principles, protection guidelines, and case management principles, standards, and procedures.
- Experience in mainstreaming protection concepts within a humanitarian operation.
- Knowledge of the assigned area and understanding of local communities and customary rules.
- Strong observation, analytical, and report writing skills.
- Experience working with smart data collection tools such as KOBO.
- Willingness to commit to the values, mission, and vision of NMO.
- Availability for regular trainings provided by NMO and ability to support in identifying staff training needs.
- Respect for the confidentiality of data and information.
- Attention to detail, effective and professional communication skills, and practical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work in a stressful environment, adhere to deadlines, rules, and procedures.
- Ability to handle heavy work pressure.
- Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position.
