Nahda Makers Organization Participates with the European Union and Its Partners in Amman Meeting to Discuss Cooperation and Shared Priorities

The European Union and its implementing partners concluded two days of discussions in Amman on Tuesday, reviewing EU-Yemen cooperation and the priorities guiding programmes across the country. The event was attended by Nahda Makers Organization, represented by MEAL Manager: Nasser Saleh Abdo and Protection Manager: Yasser Bin Shuaib.

The fourth edition of the “EU-Yemen Partnership Days,” held on 28 and 29 September 2026, brought together organizations implementing EU-funded programmes, European institutions, as well as other development actors working across the humanitarian, development, and economic sectors throughout the country.

The event was opened by the European Union Ambassador to Yemen, Patrick Simonnet, and Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al-Faqmi, followed by a plenary session on EU-Yemen cooperation.

Ambassador Simonnet said: “We are meeting today with our partners and stakeholders to identify shared priorities and explore innovative and practical ways to respond to needs. By sharing experiences and coordinating our efforts, we can make our support more effective. Our commitment is not limited to addressing immediate needs; it also includes helping Yemenis rebuild their livelihoods, access reliable services, and shape their own future.”

The discussions covered agriculture and food systems, investment, livelihoods and job creation, gender, media, water management, climate pressures, and the role of the private sector. They also addressed political participation and support for mediation efforts, communication, donor coordination, and lessons learned from recent project assessment processes.

The economic landscape featured prominently in the discussions, with a dedicated session on expanding investment that brought together development finance institutions, representatives of the European Union, and private-sector representatives. A dedicated business dialogue was also held, focusing on strengthening engagement between European and Yemeni economic actors.

Water management was another key topic. Sessions explored donor coordination in addressing the groundwater crisis amid increasing climate pressures, while also examining water management through the lens of culture, traditional knowledge, and science-based innovation.

The second day included networking and project coordination sessions, providing implementing partners with an opportunity to discuss ongoing projects, explore areas for enhanced cooperation, and exchange experiences.

Nahda Makers Organization’s participation in the meeting reflects its commitment to strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange with partners and stakeholders in the humanitarian and development sectors, as well as contributing to discussions on priorities and needs in Yemen.

The event underscored the importance of continuing dialogue between the European Union and its partners at a time when Yemen continues to face significant humanitarian, economic, environmental, and development challenges. The event concluded on 29 September with a session reviewing the key discussions and outcomes reached by participants over the two-day event.

From Aden to Home: 160 Somali Refugees Embark on a New Chapter

The departure from Aden International Airport carried more than just passengers. It carried the hopes of 160 Somali refugees who chose to return to their homeland, embarking on a new journey under the Assisted Voluntary Return (ASR) programme of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

This journey marks the third voluntary return flight facilitated by Nahda Makers Organization in 2026, continuing its efforts to support refugees who wish to return to their countries of origin and to facilitate their journey from the preparation stage through to their departure from the airport.

Ahead of the departure, the organization’s team supported the necessary preparations, including refugee registration and document verification, pre-departure awareness sessions, and the transportation of returnees and their belongings to Aden International Airport, while facilitating travel procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The returnees also received the necessary medical examinations conducted by Al-Ehsan Humanitarian Organization. Meanwhile, UNHCR provided counselling on voluntary return, coordinated travel arrangements, and facilitated air tickets and cash assistance to support return and reintegration.

As the plane departed, the journey represented more than a move from one place to another. For many of the returnees, it was a step toward home and an opportunity to begin a new chapter after years of displacement.

About NMO

NMO is a national NGO registered with Yemen’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor under registration number 284. Since beginning its work in Yemen in 2012, the organization has supported communities through humanitarian response and sustainable development, working with partners across food security and livelihoods, education and child protection, WASH and health, protection, shelter and CCCM, governance, and skills development.

NMO does not tolerate abuse, exploitation, sexual assault, harassment, bullying or discrimination.

Role purpose

The Coordinator supports the Human Resources and Administrative Manager in running and monitoring organization-wide HR and administrative systems. The role helps ensure consistent use of approved procedures, accurate employee records, effective recruitment and employee support, payroll and benefits coordination, performance management, learning and administrative services.

The Coordinator also provides operational oversight to department units and officers within delegated authority, tracks work plans and deadlines, and may maintain departmental operations during the Manager’s absence when formally delegated. Major decisions and approvals remain with the Department Manager and Executive Management.

Key responsibilities

Policies, compliance and audit readiness

Apply and monitor approved HR and administrative policies, procedures, forms and workflows.
Identify practical improvements to procedures and templates, and submit recommendations to the Department Manager for review.
Prepare HR and administrative records for audits and reviews, follow up on missing evidence, and track the resolution of findings.
Monitor compliance with conduct, safeguarding, prevention of exploitation and abuse, anti-harassment, conflict-of-interest, confidentiality and data-protection requirements; escalate concerns to the Manager.
Explain approved procedures to staff without making decisions beyond delegated authority.

Workforce planning and recruitment

Keep workforce plans, position records, vacancies and staffing changes up to date in coordination with departments and projects.
Check the completeness and rationale of requests to create, remove, change or reallocate positions before referring them for approval.
Coordinate job descriptions, reporting lines and organizational records using approved formats.
Track contract end dates, probation periods, vacancies and anticipated staffing needs, and alert the Manager and relevant teams.
Support career-path and succession-planning updates and identify risks related to key vacancies.
Coordinate approved recruitment activities, including advertising, initial screening, tests, interviews, references and candidate communication.
Review recruitment files for completeness and audit readiness before they are submitted for approval.
Coordinate draft offers, contracts and related documents after the necessary approvals are obtained.
Organize onboarding and follow up on employee files and orientation covering policies, conduct, safeguarding, attendance, benefits and reporting lines.
Track probation reviews and refer decisions to the Manager before deadlines.

Performance management and learning

Coordinate performance review timelines, forms, reminders and completion.
Consolidate evaluation results, update records and help managers set objectives and prepare performance improvement plans.
Monitor improvement plans and escalate delays or missed requirements.
Gather training needs and support the annual learning plan, training delivery and basic evaluation of results.
Maintain training attendance and evaluation records, and help staff and managers understand approved procedures and forms.

Payroll, benefits and employee relations

Review monthly payroll inputs related to attendance, leave, overtime, allowances, deductions, advances and entitlements before submitting them to the Manager.
Keep payroll, benefit, social-insurance, health-insurance and employee-benefit records current and properly supported.
Coordinate with Finance and the Payroll Officer to resolve discrepancies and record adjustments in line with delegated authority.
Ensure approved changes to pay and benefits are reflected accurately in employee records and systems.
Protect the confidentiality of employees’ personal and financial information.
Help address routine questions about workplace policies and refer matters requiring decisions to the Manager.
Record and confidentially follow up on grievances and complaints within delegated authority.
Coordinate documentation and scheduling for disciplinary processes, investigations or mediation as directed by the Manager and authorized bodies.
Support staff well-being and a respectful, non-discriminatory workplace.
Immediately escalate sensitive, high-risk, legally significant or safeguarding-related cases.

Personnel records and administrative services

Oversee the completeness of paper and electronic employee files, including contracts, evaluations, leave records and other core documents.
Monitor HR database or HRIS updates and check that information matches approved documentation.
Track attendance, leave, absences, work hours, contracts, renewals, amendments, promotions, transfers and other employment changes.
Review draft employment certificates, letters and administrative transactions before they go through the required approvals.
Coordinate employee departures, clearance, handover, return of organizational assets and file closure with relevant teams.
Oversee day-to-day administrative services within the department’s scope, including correspondence, document management, meetings, workshops and office services.
Follow up on maintenance and service requests for head office and field offices, and track them through completion.
Maintain administrative-service records and clear processes for submitting, following up and closing requests.
Monitor workplace health, safety and suitability concerns and raise them with the Manager and relevant teams.

Donor support, budgets and reporting

Prepare HR and administrative information for proposals and budgets, including staffing needs, salaries, allowances and administrative costs, following the Manager’s guidance.
Organize supporting records for donor requirements, reviews and audits.
Coordinate responses to data or clarification requests from project teams or donors after the appropriate review and approval.
Track staff- and project-related compliance requirements and follow up on outstanding items.
Monitor the department’s operating expenses against approved budgets and prepare periodic summaries for the Manager.
Prepare payroll and operating-cost allocation schedules with Finance, following the approved methodology.
Investigate variances or missing support for allocations and raise them for resolution before financial close or reporting.
Maintain approvals and records for personnel and administrative costs to support traceability and audit readiness.
Prepare draft monthly and quarterly reports covering areas such as recruitment, contracts, turnover, leave, training, performance, employee relations and administrative services.
Maintain trackers for vacancies, contracts, probation periods, recruitment, leave, training, pending actions and deadlines.
Review department performance indicators and data before submitting them to the Manager.
Identify recurring operational problems and recommend practical improvements to reduce errors and delays.

Coordination and delegated supervision

Coordinate day-to-day follow-up of the department work plan, track assignments and deadlines, and monitor action items issued by the Department Manager.
Provide operational and technical oversight, within delegated authority, across personnel administration, payroll and compensation, workforce planning, performance reviews and administrative services.
Review work quality before submitting outputs to the Manager.
Coordinate shared matters with departments, projects and field offices.
Represent the department in assigned coordination meetings, record decisions and follow up on agreed actions.
During the Manager’s absence, act as Deputy Department Manager only within written delegation and the Delegation of Authority Matrix; refer major or sensitive matters to the Executive Director or other authorized decision-maker.
Carry out other related duties assigned by the direct supervisor, in line with approved policies and delegated authority.

Required qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree at minimum in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Operations Management, Law or a related field.
A relevant master’s degree is preferred.
Professional training or certification in HR, labor law, performance management, compensation and benefits, HRIS/ERP, safeguarding or professional conduct is preferred.

Experience

At least 5 years of professional experience in human resources and administrative services; 5–7 years is preferred.
Practical experience with recruitment, personnel records, contracts, attendance, leave, payroll inputs, performance management, employee relations and administrative services.
At least 2 years in coordination or supervisory work, or overseeing a team or work unit, is a strong advantage.

Purpose of the Position

Daily support for information management and reporting functions within the Programs and Field Operations Department, through providing operational assistance in receiving information and files, preparing, entering or updating data, organizing and archiving records, and developing operational tables, templates, and summaries. This support ensures the availability of well-organized, up-to-date, and readily accessible information for administrative and programmatic reporting and follow-up purposes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in preparing and compiling various operational and programmatic periodic reports, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, status reports, and periodic updates, in both Arabic and English, by collecting relevant inputs, data, tables, and supporting documents.
Support the preparation of project and program interim, final, and thematic reports by preparing required inputs, tables, and annexes and following up on the completion of relevant information.
Support the Information Management and Reporting Officer in reviewing and preparing report drafts in accordance with approved templates and requirements, ensuring consistency of the information, tables, and annexes included.

Required Qualifications

Education

Experience

1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience, including at least one year of hands-on experience in data entry, information organization and record management, reporting support, or structured administrative and office operations. Experience within humanitarian, development, or similar organizations is highly desirable.

Equivalent Experience:

Completion of at least 30 hours of vocational or professional training in fields relevant to the position, in addition to a minimum of one year of relevant work experience in the required areas.

Purpose of the Position

Monitor project activities and ensure they are executed in accordance with the established project plan and scheduled timeline, while ensuring compliance with the commitments outlined in the project proposals and agreements. Job Title: Site Supervisor
Direct Supervisor: Project Officer
Sector: Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL)

Purpose of the Position

Provide on-site supervision of project implementation activities in accordance with the approved drawings, technical specifications, and bills of quantities.
Ensure the quality of works executed and their compliance with technical standards and project requirements, while monitoring work progress against the approved implementation schedule.
Coordinate with contractors and relevant stakeholders, prepare periodic technical reports, and document work progress, site observations, and field findings.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Provide daily supervision and monitoring of site activities to ensure implementation is carried out in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and bills of quantities.
Ensure that all executed works meet the required quality standards, technical specifications, and project requirements.
Monitor work progress against the approved work plan and schedule, identify any delays or constraints, and report them to the direct supervisor for appropriate action.
Review completed works and measured quantities on site and verify their compliance with bills of quantities and contractors’ submitted payment certificates.
Supervise the rehabilitation and construction works of irrigation canal gates.
Monitor excavation, backfilling, concrete works, stone masonry works, rehabilitation, and maintenance activities in accordance with the project scope.
Monitor materials used on site and ensure their compliance with technical specifications, including the approval of material samples when required.
Conduct field measurements and verify levels, dimensions, and alignments in accordance with approved drawings.
Ensure the contractor’s compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and environmental regulations throughout project implementation.
Monitor compliance with environmental and social requirements during implementation and minimize any adverse impacts on communities and property.
Coordinate with contractors, beneficiaries, and local communities to address technical and site-related issues.
Coordinate with local communities, local authorities, and beneficiaries to facilitate project implementation and resolve field-related challenges.
Document implementation progress through daily and weekly reports, photographs, measurements, and inspection and handover records.
Participate in the inspection and acceptance of completed works and ensure that identified defects and observations are adequately addressed.
Prepare and submit periodic technical reports on work progress, achievement rates, executed quantities, observations, and recommendations.
Review drawings, bills of quantities, and technical specifications, and propose appropriate solutions to issues arising during implementation.
Follow up on the implementation of instructions issued by the Project Officer and ensure the contractor’s compliance with them.
Participate in site meetings with contractors and relevant stakeholders, and follow up on the implementation of agreed decisions and recommendations.
Contribute to the preparation of meeting minutes, handover certificates, variation orders, and technical memoranda as required.
Perform any other project-related technical duties assigned by the Project Officer.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience as a Civil Engineer or Water Engineer, preferably in field supervision, and the implementation or rehabilitation of construction and infrastructure projects.

Required Skills

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Ability to review and analyze Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and verify executed quantities and completed works.
Ability to conduct field measurements and verify levels, dimensions, and alignments.
Ability to monitor the quality of implementation and ensure compliance of completed works with approved drawings and technical specifications.
Ability to prepare technical reports and maintain accurate field documentation of project activities.
Strong coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, project teams, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders.

#Nahda_Makers organizes a validation workshop for the action plan to enhance L/NNGO participation in humanitarian leadership and decision-making

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local leadership and support the active role of national organizations within the humanitarian system, Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO) organized a Validation workshop for the action plan for Enhancing L/NNGO Participation in Leadership and Making in the Humanitarian System in Aden, with the participation of 36 representatives from key national and international humanitarian actors in Yemen.

The workshop was held under the Humanitarian System Transformation through Local Humanitarian Leadership (HST-LHL) project, funded by the #Ministry_of_Foreign_Affairs_Netherlands, in partnership with #Oxfam and implemented by Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO).

The workshop aimed to engage key national and international humanitarian actors in consultations to review and enrich the draft action plan designed to strengthen the participation and leadership of Local and National Non-Governmental Organizations (L/NNGOs) in humanitarian coordination mechanisms and decision-making processes.

During the workshop, the draft action plan was presented to participants, followed by discussions and group consultations to review and enrich its key components, including the proposed activities, responsible stakeholders, timelines, and intended objectives and outcomes across the different areas of the plan.

The workshop brought together representatives of national non-governmental organizations, including Women-Led Organizations (WLOs), Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), alongside representatives from international organizations, United Nations agencies, Cluster Coordinators, thematic working groups, government entities, and the private sector.

The workshop forms part of broader efforts to support local humanitarian leadership and strengthen the meaningful role of local and national organizations within the humanitarian system, contributing to a more inclusive, balanced, and locally responsive humanitarian system.

From Challenges to a Passion for Learning: Sarah's Story

Sarah Rediscovers Her Passion for Learning

Education during times of conflict and disasters is more than just an opportunity to acquire knowledge; it provides children with a safe environment, gives them a sense of stability and hope, and helps them overcome the psychological and social impacts of crises, becoming a gateway to a better future.

In Yakhtul area, Al Mokha District, Taiz Governorate, Sarah Abdo Yahya Ali lives with her family and attends Al Shaheed Mohammed Ali School. Like many other children in the area, Sarah was affected by the challenges imposed by the the challenging circumstances, which were reflected in her educational experience. she begins her school day in the morning and attends classes until noon. She then returns home for lunch and a short rest before heading back to school to attend the remedial classes implemented by Nahda Makers Organization, where lessons continue until 4:00 p.m. She ends her day by playing with her peers in front of her home.

Recalling the challenges she faced before joining the remedial classes, Sarah says, "I faced some difficulties because I only had one notebook, which caused some students to bully me." The challenges were not limited to the lack of school supplies but also extended to the academic aspect. She adds, "I had a major problem with mathematics and found it difficult to perform arithmetic operations. The school hours were also very boring." She also pointed out that the school lacked games and learning resources that would give students space for recreation and enjoyment during the school day.

With the implementation of the project interventions, Sarah's educational experience began to change significantly. She says, "The organization provided us with many things. The first was qualified teachers to deliver remedial lessons. I also received a school bag, school supplies, and reading and mathematics books, which benefited us greatly during the lessons." The project's impact was not limited to improving academic performance but also made the learning environment more attractive and enjoyable. The provision of recreational games and educational materials helped

make the school a more engaging place, which increased Sarah's and her classmates' motivation to learn and participate in class.

When speaking about the project's impact on her academic performance, a smile appeared on Sarah's face as she said, "I have become much better. I have improved in reading and mathematics more than before, and I can now spell letters and words easily. I can also perform arithmetic operations more easily." This support also had a positive impact on another aspect of her personality, as she found an opportunity to develop her talent for drawing. She says, "I love drawing, and my talent has improved because I now spend more time drawing using the materials I received. I also have enough notebooks now, and I have dedicated one notebook to each school subject."

At the end of the interview, Sarah expressed her gratitude to Nahda Makers Organization and its partners for the support they had provided, saying, "I hope the organization continues to be with us at the school every year."

Sarah's story reflects the reality of thousands of children whose right to quality education has been affected by conflicts and disasters. At the same time, it highlights how integrated education interventions, through the provision of remedial classes, qualified teachers, learning materials, and a supportive school environment can help children regain their self-confidence, develop their abilities, and instill in them hope for a better future.

Sarah’s story is part of the Displacement and Climate-induced Emergency Response in Yemen Project, funded by Education Cannot Wait (#ECW), in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (#NRC), and implemented by Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO).

Through this project, Nahda Makers Organization continues to support children affected by displacement and crises by providing safe and inclusive learning opportunities, remedial education classes, qualified teachers, and educational materials and supplies. These efforts help strengthen children’s abilities, restore their passion for learning, and give them the hope and confidence to build a better future.

Education Restores Madin’s Passion for Learning

Madin Regains His Confidence in Learning and Dreams of Becoming a Teacher

For children affected by displacement and crises, education is more than an opportunity to acquire knowledge. It provides them with a sense of stability, helps them rebuild their self-confidence, and opens new possibilities for their future.

Madin Mustafa Hadi Abdu Naji is a fourth-grade He is one of the displaced students who benefited from the remedial education programme implemented by Nahda Makers Organization after the difficult circumstances he experienced affected his academic performance and relationship with school.

Madin begins his day by attending school in the morning. After the regular school day ends, he returns home, where he helps his father on the farm and has lunch. He then goes back to school to attend the remedial classes. After completing his lessons, he spends some time with his friends or continues helping his father on the farm. Despite these daily responsibilities, Madin has become more committed to setting aside time for learning and reviewing his lessons.

Madin recalls the difficulties he faced before joining the remedial classes, saying: "I was unable to read and write well, and I did not have school supplies. I also had no one to help me study my lessons, and this made me dislike school and learning." These challenges made it difficult for him to participate effectively in class and negatively affected both his motivation and confidence in his ability to learn.

After joining the remedial education programme, Madin’s learning experience began to change significantly. He explains: "Through the remedial education programme, I learned to read and write better. The teachers supported me in my learning, and the organization provided me with a school bag and school supplies. This made me enjoy studying, and my academic performance improved greatly." Describing the change he experienced, he adds: "I can now read and write well, and I have come to love school and studying." For Madin, the most important benefits included receiving a school bag and essential learning materials, as well as having teachers who supported him in understanding and reviewing his lessons.

Education is no longer a difficult experience for Madin as it was in the past. Instead, it has become a pathway towards a clear ambition. He says: "I hope to become a teacher in the future." At the end of the interview, he expressed his appreciation to Nahda Makers Organization and the donor, saying: "Thank you very much."

Madin’s story demonstrates how remedial education, supportive teachers, and access to essential school supplies can restore a child’s confidence, strengthen their connection to school, and transform learning from a source of difficulty into the beginning of a dream for a better future.

#NMO_ORG Implements the Second ASR for Refugees in August

In a step filled with hope and the promise of a new beginning, 154 Somali refugees departed Aden International Airport, heading back to their homeland, Somalia, under the Assisted Spontaneous Return (ASR) Programme of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (#UNHCR).

This journey is part of joint efforts to support refugees who wish to voluntarily return to their countries of origin, ensuring that their return is safe, voluntary, and dignified.

Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO) supports and facilitates various stages of the return process, including registering refugees and verifying their documents, organizing pre-departure awareness sessions, transporting returnees and their belongings to the airport, and facilitating travel procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities. Meanwhile, Human Access Organization (HAO) conducts the necessary medical examinations for the returnees.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (#UNHCR) also provides voluntary return counselling, coordinates travel arrangements, and facilitates air tickets and cash assistance to support return and reintegration.

154 refugees… 154 stories returning home, carrying with them the hope of a new beginning.

Nahda Makers (NMO) supports refugees to return to Somalia through UNHCR’s Assisted Spontaneous Return (ASR) Programme

As part of ongoing efforts to support durable solutions for refugees in Yemen, Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO) is supporting UNHCR to kick off the implementation of its 2026 “Assisted Spontaneous Return” (ASR) programme, by assisting an initial 155 refugee to return to Somalia. This activity is part of a broader multi-sectoral project supporting refugees and asylum seekers in Yemen, implemented with UNHCR.

The ASR programme aims to support Somali refugees who wish to voluntarily return to their country of origin in a safe and dignified manner. The programme involves a series of integrated procedures to facilitate voluntary return in line with humanitarian standards. UNHCR conducts voluntary return counselling, confirms the voluntary nature of returns, processes return requests, coordinates return arrangements with relevant stakeholders in Yemen and Somalia, and provides air travel and cash assistance to support return and reintegration. As part of this process, NMO supports registration and document verification, medical examinations, pre-departure awareness sessions, transportation of refugees and their luggage to the airport, and the facilitation of departure procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities.

For the first return flight of 2026, 155 refugees residing in Al-Basateen area of Aden Governorate expressed their interest to take part in the programme. Future trips in 2026 are expected to include refugees residing in other governorates.

This activity forms part of broader efforts to support durable solutions for refugees by ensuring that return journeys are carried out voluntarily, safely and in an orderly manner while preserving the dignity and well-being of the beneficiaries.

Nahda Makers Conducts a Series of Trainings to Strengthen the Capacity of Education Personnel in Mental Health and Risk Reduction

As part of Displacement and Climate-induced Emergency Response in Yemen Project, funded by #ECW and implemented in partnership with #NRC, #Nahda_Makers (#NMO) conducted a series of specialized trainings for teachers and education personnel on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), School-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the school environment in Al Hudaydah and Taiz governorates.

The trainings aimed to strengthen the capacity of education personnel to provide safe, protective, and supportive learning environments for children affected by crises.

The trainings brought together 187 participants, including 83 men and 104 women, comprising teachers, school administrators, social workers, and School Crisis Management Teams from the targeted schools.

The sessions focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to promote children's mental health and psychosocial well-being, strengthen emergency preparedness and response, reduce school disaster risks, and prevent and safely respond to gender-based violence in school settings. Participants also enhanced their understanding of appropriate referral pathways to ensure children receive the support and protection they need.

These trainings are part of ongoing efforts to empower education personnel to create safe, protective, inclusive, and supportive learning environments that promote the well-being of children affected by crises, ensure the continuity of education, and strengthen schools' resilience in the face of emergencies and future challenges.

Nahda Makers Constructs New Classrooms to Promote Safe and Inclusive Education in Al Hudaydah

As part of the Displacement and Climate-induced Emergency Response in Yemen project, funded by #ECW and in partnership with #NRC, #Nahda_Makers (#NMO) is currently constructing new classrooms ahead of the new school year in two schools across Al Hudaydah governorate. The classrooms are being built using child-friendly and disability-inclusive designs in accordance with the standards and designs approved by the Ministry of Education.

The activity will benefit 1,390 students, including 760 boys and 630 girls, through the construction of five permanent classrooms that will improve the learning environment and help meet the growing demand for quality education.

The intervention aims to enhance the learning environment and increase the capacity of the targeted schools by providing safe and inclusive classrooms that meet the needs of children, including learners with disabilities, while complying with the Ministry of Education's approved designs.

It also contributes to reducing classroom overcrowding, improving access to education, supporting the continuity of learning, and creating a safer, more inclusive, and more conducive learning environment for children affected by crises.

#Nahda_Makers Implements a Life Skills Training Program in Al-Mawaset District

As part of the project's activities, the organization launched a Life Skills Training Program targeting 359 beneficiaries in Al-Mawaset District, Taiz Governorate. The training aims to equip participants with the personal, social, and practical skills needed to effectively address everyday life and labor market challenges.

The program focuses on strengthening participants’ capacities in effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management, contributing to improved economic and social opportunities while enhancing their ability to build more stable and productive futures.

Overall, the "Economic Empowerment of Rural Women and Their Communities" project targets 1,537 beneficiaries across Tuban District in Lahj Governorate and Al-Mawaset District in Taiz Governorate. The Fruits of Self-Reliance

Over the past years, Yemen has witnessed a prolonged conflict that has led to a continuous deterioration in humanitarian and living conditions. This has affected people’s lives through worsening food insecurity, water scarcity, and declining livelihood opportunities, alongside rising prices and economic decline. Al-Mawaset and Al-Selw districts in Taiz Governorate are among the most vulnerable and affected areas, facing increasing challenges such as the depletion of water resources, the drying up of agricultural lands, and weak investment in the agricultural sector. These factors have further exacerbated the suffering of the most vulnerable households, limiting their ability to improve their sources of income and strengthen their livelihood resilience.

Abdulwadood Ahmed Naji, 38 years old, is a farmer living in Al-Selw District, Al-Qabila sub-district. He supports a family consisting of seven males and three females. He works in farming maize, almonds, potatoes, and onions, which helps him cover his family’s expenses.

Abdulwadood tells us about his situation before the intervention, saying that he used to travel for about fifteen minutes by motorcycle, which cost him 8,000 Yemeni rials for transportation alone, not including the other costs of purchasing vegetables. He added that most of the vegetables available on the market were full of fertilizers and chemicals.

In December 2025, Nahda Makers Organization (NMO), with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), intervened by implementing small- agricultural initiatives project for the most vulnerable families in the Al-Selw and Al-Mawasit districts. The intervention provided beneficiaries with a complete home garden kit, including: A metal greenhouse structure netting, high-quality tomato seeds, agricultural tools, a water tank and drip irrigation pipes. In addition to the physical supplies, all beneficiaries received comprehensive training on agricultural value addition and modern farming techniques. To ensure the highest quality of implementation, NMO’s agricultural engineers provided continuous technical support throughout the setup and cultivation phases. Following a beneficiary list submitted by local WUAs in the target areas, the NMO team conducted a field visit to Abdulwadood's home to verify her eligibility against the selection criteria. He was successfully selected and provided with her own home garden

Regarding his situation after the intervention, Abdulwadood told us, “I started to rely on myself for vegetables, especially tomatoes, zucchini, and coriander, and I saved a lot of money. The most important benefit for my family and me from the home garden is that I have stopped buying vegetables full of fertilizers and chemicals. Now all our vegetables are fresh and harvested daily, and I also share some of these fresh tomatoes with my neighbors.” Speaking about his future plans for the garden he received, Abdulwadood confirmed that he intends to plant garlic, watermelon, and cucumbers.

Finally, Abdulwadood expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Nahda Makers Organization (NMO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as to the agricultural engineers for their efforts in raising beneficiaries’ awareness about the production of natural fertilizers. He also hoped that supporting organizations would increase the number of beneficiaries of home garden projects, while suggesting that the garden area be expanded to allow the cultivation of more than one type of vegetable.

It is worth noting that this activity is part of the " Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security" project, funded by the (#BMZ) through (#KfW), implemented by the (#UNDP) in collaboration with #Nahda_Makers (#NMO).

Completion of Agricultural Terraces Rehabilitation to Strengthen Farmers' Resilience

#NMO_ORG has successfully completed the rehabilitation of agricultural terraces in Al-Silw and Al-Mawasit districts of Taiz Governorate under the Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security Project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW).

The intervention benefited 335 households, including 29 women-headed households, with the objective of restoring the functionality of agricultural terraces, protecting them from further degradation, and improving their capacity to retain rainwater. These efforts contribute to increased agricultural productivity and enhanced food security for the targeted communities.

The rehabilitation works included clearing accumulated soil and debris, reconstructing collapsed stone retaining walls, reinforcing terrace foundations, leveling agricultural land, establishing and rehabilitating rainwater drainage channels, and stabilizing erosion-prone areas to reduce soil loss and ensure the long-term sustainability of agricultural land.

The activity was implemented through a Cash for Work (CfW) approach, providing temporary income opportunities for participating households while supporting community-led efforts to restore agricultural infrastructure and protect natural resources.

Agricultural terrace rehabilitation is considered one of the most effective interventions in Yemen's mountainous areas, as it helps conserve fertile soil, improve rainwater harvesting, reduce erosion, and strengthen rural communities' resilience to climate change while promoting sustainable agricultural production.

As part of the “Life-changing Interventions for Females to Thrivein” in Taiz Governorate, funded by the #European_Union and implemented in partnership with #ZOA, Nahda Makers (#NMO) supervised Joodan Organization for Development and Peace and Seyaq Youth and Development Organization in conducting a community consultation workshop with community representatives entitled, "The Role of Protection Programs in Promoting Economic Empowerment and Their Impact on the Reality of Entrepreneurial Projects for Women and Persons with Disabilities".

The workshop brought together 25 participants, including 22 women and 3 men, representing local communities from the targeted districts, alongside representatives from Joodan Organization for Development and Peace and Seyaq Youth and Development Organization.

The workshop aimed to discuss the role of protection programs and psychosocial support in strengthening the economic empowerment of women and persons with disabilities by reviewing key challenges and needs, exchanging experiences, and identifying practical solutions that contribute to the success and sustainability of entrepreneurial initiatives. It also featured interactive discussion sessions to enhance participants' understanding of their role in advocating women's rights and contributing to the development of a more just and inclusive society.

Furthermore, the workshop sought to strengthen participants' understanding of the role of protection programs in supporting economic empowerment and to highlight the importance of psychosocial support in enabling women and persons with disabilities to establish and manage sustainable entrepreneurial projects. It also promoted dialogue and coordination among relevant stakeholders and civil society organizations to improve protection and economic empowerment services.

The workshop concluded with the development of a set of advocacy messages and practical recommendations aimed at improving protection programs and enhancing the success and sustainability of entrepreneurial projects in line with the needs and context of local communities.

Job Title: Engineer Officer

Reporting to: Project Coordinator

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Conduct technical field assessments and prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, Bill of Quantities (BoQs), technical specifications, and cost estimates for Shelter/CCCM/ Protection/WASH/FASC/Health / Education and infrastructure.

Coordinate closely with programs, logistics, finance, supply chain, and M&E teams, and represent NMO in relevant sector and cluster coordination meetings.

Develop Operations & Maintenance (O&M) plans to ensure the long-term sustainability of implemented infrastructure assets before community handover.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Education: Bachelor's degree in civil, Architectural, Agricultural, or Water & Environmental Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of practical field experience in engineering and infrastructure works, preferably within the humanitarian sector (specifically in Shelter, CCCM, WASH, or Agricultural projects).
Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and relevant hydraulic analysis software.

Key Competencies:

Excellent professional communication, leadership, and technical report-writing skills in English.
Strong commitment to humanitarian principles, accountability, community participation, and PSEA.
Willingness to travel to remote field locations and work in challenging environments.

Nahda Makers Rehabilitates 13 Rural Roads in Taiz to Improve Farmers’ Access to Markets and Strengthen Food Security

As part of ongoing efforts to improve rural infrastructure and enhance the resilience of the agricultural sector, 13 rural roads have been rehabilitated in Al-Silw and Al-Mawaset districts of Taiz Governorate under the Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security project. The project is funded by #KfW, implemented by #UNDP, and carried out in cooperation with #NMO.

The rehabilitation covered a total length of 1,578.5 linear meters, including 761 linear meters in Al-Mawaset District and 817.5 linear meters in Al-Silw District. These improvements are expected to facilitate transportation, strengthen connectivity between agricultural areas, markets, and essential services, and improve the movement of agricultural produce.

A total of 113,686 people are expected to benefit from these interventions, including 67,650 beneficiaries in Al-Mawaset District and 46,036 beneficiaries in Al-Silw District. Women represent 50% of the total beneficiaries.

This intervention forms part of the project's broader efforts to strengthen infrastructure that supports the agricultural sector by improving access to markets. The initiative is expected to reduce transportation costs, facilitate farmers’ access to marketing opportunities, enhance livelihoods, strengthen food security, and increase the resilience of local communities in the face of ongoing challenges.

Nahda Makers Organization Implements School Rehabilitation and Renovation Works in Taiz and Al Hudaydah Governorates

With funding from the@ Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and in partnership with the @Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Nahda Makers Organization (NMO) is implementing rehabilitation and renovation works in targeted schools across Taiz and Al Hudaydah governorates.

The project aims to improve the learning environment and create safe, supportive, and conducive schools that enable students and educational staff to continue the educational process under better and more stable conditions.

The project targets eight schools across the districts of Dhubab and Al Mokha in Taiz Governorate, and Al Khawkha and Hays in Al Hudaydah Governorate. The targeted schools include: Al Fatah School, Al Amal School, Martyr Mohammed Ali School, Al Salam Al Gharafi School, 22 May Complex School, Al Noor School, Al Wahda School, and Abu Al Qasim School.

The project includes a comprehensive package of construction and rehabilitation interventions, including the rehabilitation and renovation of 69 classrooms across the eight schools, the construction of five additional classrooms in Al Khawkha and Hays districts, and the rehabilitation of 57 school latrines designed to be gender-sensitive and accessible for students with disabilities, thereby enhancing safety and inclusivity within the school environment.

The works also include the rehabilitation and installation of safe water points and the connection of schools to water networks, in addition to the supply and installation of solar power systems in four schools. The project will also provide school and office furniture, as well as student desks and chairs, contributing to improved educational services and a more conducive and sustainable learning environment.

All works are scheduled to be completed before the start of the new academic year, ensuring that schools are fully prepared to receive students and resume classes in a safe and appropriate learning environment.

This project comes as part of ongoing efforts to support the education sector and improve school infrastructure, contributing to increased access to safe and quality education for children in the targeted areas.

#Nahda_Makers_Organization Implements a Project to Improve Living Conditions for IDPs in Al Ma’afer and Jabal Habashi Camps in Taiz Governorate

As part of its humanitarian efforts to save lives and uphold the dignity of internally displaced persons (IDPs), #Nahda_Makers , with funding from #YHF, implemented the project titled “Life-saving assistance to acutely vulnerable populations and IDPs, addressing the CCCM, and Protection needs in Al Ma'afer, and Jabal Habashi districts in Taiz governorate” The project targeted IDPs and the most vulnerable families living in several camps across Al Ma’afer and Jabal Habashi districts.

The project included a package of critical interventions aimed at improving infrastructure and essential services within the camps. Activities included shelter repair and maintenance, pathway and road maintenance, repairs to water supply and sanitation facilities, installation of solar lighting systems, enhancement of waste management systems, and community awareness campaigns to promote healthy practices and strengthen community protection.

A total of 4,482 beneficiaries living in various camps across Al Ma’afer and Jabal Habashi districts benefited from the project.

This intervention was implemented to create a safer and more stable environment for displaced populations by improving essential services within displacement sites, strengthening protection mechanisms, and responding to urgent humanitarian needs. The project also supported (CCCM) efforts, contributing to more efficient service delivery, enhanced coordination among humanitarian actors, and strengthened accountability and feedback mechanisms with displaced communities.

In addition to implementing CCCM activities at the site level in Al Ma’afer and Jabal Habashi districts, the organization also assumed responsibility for Area-Based Coordination in Jabal Habashi District, helping to improve the integration of humanitarian interventions and strengthen responses to the growing needs of IDPs and host communities.

Nahda Makers continues its humanitarian efforts to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable groups and enhance their resilience in the face of escalating humanitarian challenges.

From Building Skills to Improving Livelihoods

Hadramout Governorate in southeastern Yemen is facing escalating humanitarian and economic challenges as a result of the ongoing conflict and deteriorating economic conditions, including the continuous decline in the value of the local currency and worsening environmental conditions. The districts of Al Qatn and Sayun are particularly affected by these circumstances, which have directly impacted people’s lives and livelihoods. Amid the country’s ongoing economic crisis, the lack of stable employment opportunities remains one of the most critical challenges facing low-income families, as securing basic needs has become a daily struggle and burden for many households.

From Skill Building to Livelihood Improvement: How Did the FFA Project Turn “Fahmi Qouiqo’s” Aspirations into a Tangible Reality?

In Al Qatn District, 31-year-old Fahmi Qouiqo lives with and supports a family of four. Fahmi used to rely on irregular daily labor jobs with very limited wages that barely covered the minimum basic living expenses, placing him under continuous financial and psychological pressure as he struggled to provide for his children’s essential needs.

However, the turning point in his life began when he joined the Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) activity under the “Food to Future – #FuTuRe3” project, implemented by Nahda Makers Organization in partnership with the World Food Programme (#WFP) and supported by #BMZ & #KSRelief . Through his participation in the project’s field activities, Fahmi not only gained a temporary source of income, but also found a valuable opportunity to develop his practical skills, strengthen his professional capabilities, refine his expertise, and build a more stable future for himself and his family.

Fahmi says gratefully:

“Before joining the project, I struggled significantly to meet my family’s basic needs due to limited and unstable income. However, through this intervention, the impact was not limited to improving my living conditions; I also gained valuable practical experience in construction work, particularly in stone masonry and the construction of flood drainage channels. These skills have now become a real opportunity for me to work and improve my income in the future.”

The project has had a positive and multidimensional impact on Fahmi’s life. It contributed to his professional empowerment by equipping him with practical skills in constructing stone flood drainage channels, which enhanced his prospects for future employment in this field. In addition, the financial support he received through the project helped improve his family’s living conditions and enabled them to meet their basic needs with greater stability and dignity.

The impact of the project was not limited to the individual level; it also extended to the wider community. Fahmi and his colleagues contributed to works that help reduce flood risks and improve agricultural infrastructure in the area, thereby strengthening the community’s resilience to environmental and economic challenges.

Today, Fahmi looks forward to continuing his work in this field, emphasizing that the skills and experience he has gained represent a true capital for his professional future. In a message addressed to the supporting entities, he said:

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Nahda Makers Organization and the donors for this opportunity. #Nahda_Makers Organizes a Consultative Workshop to Present the Results of the Mapping Study of Local Organizations within Coordination Structures to Local and International Actors

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local humanitarian leadership and expand the participation of national organizations in humanitarian coordination mechanisms, #NahdaMakers organized a consultative workshop titled “Consultative Workshop: Presenting the findings of the mapping exercise to national and international humanitarian actors and agreeing on key actions for developing an Action Plan for Enhancing Local and National NGOs' Participation in Decision-Making Processes in Coordination Mechanisms” The workshop was held under the (Humanitarian System Transformation through Local Humanitarian Leadership (HST-LHL) "project, funded by the #Ministry_of_Foreign_Affairs_Netherlands, and in partnership with #Oxfam.

The workshop brought together 40 participants representing national and local non-governmental organizations, including women-led organizations (WLOs), women’s rights organizations (WROs), and organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), alongside representatives from international NGOs, United Nations agencies, cluster coordinators, thematic working groups, government entities, and the private sector from the governorates of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Taiz, Al Hudaydah, Sana’a, Marib, Hadramout Coast and Valley, and Al Mahrah.

The workshop aimed to engage key national and international humanitarian stakeholders in broad consultations to agree on priority actions that would strengthen the participation of local and national organizations in decision-making processes within humanitarian coordination mechanisms, based on the challenges and recommendations identified in the mapping study on local organizations’ participation in humanitarian coordination structures.

The workshop also included a presentation of the study’s key findings and facilitated consultative discussions among participants to identify practical priority actions for addressing the challenges faced by local and national organizations, thereby enhancing their active role and participation in humanitarian coordination and decision-making processes.

In addition, participants discussed proposed activities under each action, implementation timelines, responsible parties, and key performance indicators that would contribute to the development of a practical and comprehensive action plan to strengthen local humanitarian leadership.

#Nahda_Makers organization is implementing a series of agricultural interventions within the "Food to Resilience" FuTuRe project.

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance food security and build sustainable livelihoods, the “Food to Resilience” (FuTuRe3) project, funded by #KSRelief & #BMZ and in partnership with #WFP, and in coordination with the local authority, carry out a series of agricultural interventions across the districts of Wadi and Desert Hadramout. These efforts aim to improve the efficiency of irrigation systems and support farming communities in addressing climate-related challenges.

In Seiyun District, work was carried out on the internal irrigation system, as well as main and secondary canals in Al-Hajib area. Activities were carried out in 15 locations, including the construction of water division structures and internal distribution units. Work has been completed in 10 sites so far, with implementation ongoing in the remaining locations.

Similarly, Wadi Shuhuh bin Tha’lab is witnessing parallel interventions focused on rehabilitating internal irrigation distribution systems for agricultural lands, with work underway across 24 sites.

In Al-Qatn District, the project focused on rehabilitating main and secondary canals in Wadi Jabhudh, alongside improving the benefiting agricultural lands. These efforts contribute to enhancing water resource management efficiency and increasing agricultural productivity in the area.

These interventions directly target farmers and workers in the agricultural sector, as well as individuals engaged in related trades and professions. A total of 300 beneficiaries are reached through construction activities, in addition to 700 beneficiaries supported through the distribution of agricultural inputs and the application of climate adaptation practices.

This work aligns with the project’s vision to strengthen community resilience and transform environmental challenges into sustainable development opportunities, thereby supporting the stability of the agricultural sector and enhancing food security in the region.

As part of concluding the activities of the Food to Resilience (#FuTuRe3) project, #Nahda_Makers implemented the closing workshop for representatives of local authorities and community committees in the districts of Sayun and Al-Qatn in Hadhramaut Governorate. The project is funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (#KSRelief) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (#BMZ), in partnership with the World Food Programme (#WFP).

The workshop was attended by the Deputy Governor of Hadhramaut for Valley and Desert Affairs, Mr. Jamaan Salmeen Barba’, along with heads of departments from the Agriculture Office, representatives of local authorities in the Valley and Desert and the targeted districts, community committees, representatives from the Water Resources and Environment Authority, and a number of water experts. It also included the consulting entity that carried out the integrated water resources management study in the districts of Tarim and Sah.

The workshop featured visual presentations on the project components, implemented activities, and key achievements during the implementation period, in addition to presenting the results of the Integrated Water Resources Management study. It also included an open discussion session that addressed key lessons learned and highlighted participants’ views and recommendations aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of future projects.

The workshop aimed to shed light on the overall achievements of the project, discuss the challenges and positive aspects encountered during implementation, and contribute to enhancing future planning based on practical experience and field insights.

The project directly benefited around 300 beneficiaries, through qualitative interventions that included rehabilitating flood protection structures, main and secondary irrigation canals, and water harvesting systems in Wadi Jabhoud in Al-Qatn District, as well as Wadi Bin Tha’lab and Wadi Bin Yamani in Sayun City. These efforts contribute to better utilization of rainwater and floodwater, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and protecting soil from erosion.

This project is part of the Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) programme, implemented over a period of 8 months (from September 2025 to April 2026), with active community participation that reflects the importance of integrating humanitarian and development efforts to achieve sustainability and strengthen community resilience.

Nahda Makers Signs Partnership Agreements with Several Civil Society Organizations under the “Life-changing Interventions for Females to Thrive” Project

As part of its efforts to strengthen development partnerships and empower women, Nahda Makers (NMO) signed partnership agreements with a number of civil society organizations and institutions under the project “Life-Changing Interventions for Women’s Prosperity,” funded by the #European_Union and implemented in partnership with #ZOA.

The signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Taiz Governorate, in the presence of Mr. Fouad Al-Faqih, Director General of the Social Affairs and Labor Office. The event was also attended by Mr. Najeeb Abdullah, representative of the Planning Office, along with representatives of the district offices of Al-Mudhaffar, Salah, and Al-Qahira. In addition, project leadership from Nahda Makers participated, as well as the project team.

The partnership agreements included ten civil society organizations and institutions: Khubara Organization, Riaya Development Foundation, Hadaf for Development Organization, Jooden Organization, Wasl Organization, Resalati Foundation, Ma’an Foundation, Basmat Hayat Foundation for Persons with Disabilities, Ibdaa Shabab Organization, and the Protection and Rehabilitation Center for Women and Girls.

These partnerships aim to implement qualitative interventions that contribute to the protection and empowerment of women, improve access to essential services, support livelihoods, and build capacities, thereby enhancing opportunities for sustainable development within the local community.

Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between government entities and civil society organizations, reaffirming their commitment to implementing programs in accordance with quality and transparency standards to ensure a positive and sustainable impact that serves the community.

Nahda_Makers Implements Activities Under the Project “Improving living conditions and support durable solutions for communities affected by displacement throughout Yemen”

As part of ongoing efforts to improve living conditions and promote sustainable solutions for displacement-affected communities, and with funding from the #ECHO through #DRC, an activity was implemented under the project “Improving living conditions and support durable solutions for communities affected by displacement throughout Yemen” The activity targeted Al Hudaydah Governorate, Al Khawkhah District, specifically Bani Jaber Camp, benefiting 1,492 camp residents.

The activity included the installation of 6 solar-powered lighting poles with floodlights, implemented with active participation from the local community as part of a community-based project. In addition, 10 solar-powered lighting units were maintained under the maintenance project activities. This intervention aims to improve public lighting services and enhance their efficiency within the targeted area.

This activity directly contributes to enhancing safety within the camp, particularly for the most vulnerable groups such as women, children, and the elderly, by improving lighting in public spaces and reducing risks associated with nighttime movement. It also supports the sustainability of lighting infrastructure and strengthens its resilience to climate-related challenges, including the impacts of flooding.

This intervention is part of a broader series of activities aimed at improving basic services in affected camps, contributing to creating a safer and more stable environment for residents, and supporting sustainable solutions that enhance community resilience and adaptability.

Success Story - Radfan the Child in Non-Formal Education | NMO

Field Visit as Part of the Activities of the “Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security” Project

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the sustainability of water resources and support the agricultural sector, a monitoring field visit was conducted under the activities of the “Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security Project”, funded by #KfW, implemented by #UNDP, and in collaboration with #Nahda_Makers.

The visit included follow-up on the implementation of an activity involving the distribution of 186 handheld agricultural machines to 17 Water User Associations. It also reviewed a range of development interventions implemented in the area, including construction works, rural roads, home gardens, and agricultural terraces.

The visit aimed to assess the quality of the implemented works, as well as evaluate the impact of these interventions in strengthening the resilience of local communities and improving the efficiency of water resource management, thereby contributing to enhanced food security and sustainable agricultural production.

The visit was attended by a number of officials and specialists, including Mr. Nabil Jamel, Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office – Taiz; Eng. Abdullah Al-Duais, Director of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office – Taiz; Eng. Ahmed Al-Maqrami, Director of the General Authority for Water Resources Office – Taiz; Dr. Najm Al-Din, National Project Manager of the Integrated Water Resources Management Project; Ms. Buran, Water Resources Management Specialist; Eng. Saddam Al-Mansouri from the technical unit of UNDP; Mr. Mohammed Sameer, Food Security and Livelihoods Program Manager at Nahda Makers Organization; and Mr. Sabri Al-Nabhani, UNDP Coordinator for Al-Mawaset District.

These efforts come within the framework of strengthening the integration between natural resource management and agricultural development, contributing to building more resilient communities capable of addressing climate challenges and achieving sustainable development.

As part of its ongoing efforts to monitor implementation and ensure quality, the executive management of Nahda Makers Organization (NMO) conducted a field visit to construction and agricultural work sites under the FuTuRe2 and FuTuRe3 projects funded by #KSRelief and #BMZ in partnership with #WFP in Seiyun Al-Qatn and Shebam districts, to closely review the progress and status of activities.

This visit reflects the organization’s commitment to enhancing performance efficiency and ensuring that interventions are implemented in line with the highest standards, leading to tangible and sustainable results for the targeted communities.

The organization also appreciates the important role of local authorities and their continuous cooperation, which has significantly contributed to facilitating project implementation and supporting its success.

This effort falls under the vision of the “Food to Resilience” project, which aims to empower the most vulnerable groups by improving livelihoods, developing agricultural infrastructure, and providing the necessary training and support to achieve sustainable food security.

At the conclusion of the visit, the executive management expressed its appreciation to the workers, engineers, and all field teams, commending their dedication and hard work, and affirming that these efforts are the foundation for achieving the desired positive impact.

From Wasted Effort to Solar Professionalism

Hadhramaut region in southeastern Yemen suffers from critical challenges resulting from ongoing conflicts and economic deterioration, including the devaluation of the local currency and poor environmental conditions. The districts of AlQatn, Seiyun, Shibam, Wadi Al Ayn, Doan, and Rakhyah are particularly affected, which has had a direct impact on the people living in these areas.

From Wasted Effort to Solar Professionalism: How to Become a Leader in the Profession of the Future?

In Al-Hazm area of Shibam district, Mahrous Rabih Awad Muqaram, a 60-year-old breadwinner of six, lived a life of effort and search. Despite his attempts to acquire knowledge in the field of electricity and solar energy online, his struggle was wasting a lot of time and effort in seeking financial income to provide for his family. He needed an organized work framework and a profession that would generate a sustainable income with minimal effort.

Amid these circumstances, the "From Food to Resilience” project came through vocational training in the field of electricity and solar energy, which was implemented by Nahda Makers Organization in partnership with the World Food Program and funded by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. This intervention marked a decisive turning point in Mahrous's life, providing him with guidance, mentorship, practical knowledge through training and practical application, as well as professional tools through the empowerment kit that help him develop his own business.

Mahrous says with a smile and reassurance:

"Without a doubt, our situation improved better after the intervention to guide and guide us to what is beneficial to us towards hope... Through this profession and its demand in the labor market, it has been the cause of increasing income with less fatigue and effort."

The impact of the project did not stop at the financial aspect only, as Mahrous gained knowledge in the field of installation and maintenance of solar energy systems, which gave him a practical and professional ability that qualifies him to engage in the labor market with confidence. Thus, the impact became evident in improving his standard of living and economic stability, in addition to his contribution to spreading the culture of using renewable energy among his local community through his work and daily experiences.

At the end of his story, Mahrous did not forget to thank the implementing and funding agencies, saying:

"We thank Nahda Makers Organization, the World Food Programme (WFP) and the supporter of King Salman Relief Center for this opportunity to improve our sources of income, and we urge them to continue such projects."

NMO is a registered national NGO with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor No. 284. Our mission is to take the lead to empower communities in Yemen through humanitarian response and sustainable development programs in a professional way through effective partnerships. NMO started its activity in Yemen since 2012 and has been implementing projects in 5 sectors namely FSL, Education, WASH, Shelter, and Governance and skill-building.

NMO is looking for an efficient and qualified person to fill the post of Community-based worker for Education to carry out the following tasks:

Tasks and Responsibilities:

· Supervising on the implementation and follow-up of all types of campaigns and sessions, and monitoring the field works and assisting in conducting assessments and surveys as needed.

· Facilitate the implementation of all field teamwork in order to implement the action plan to ensure that effective behavior is promoted through awareness.

· Establish strong partnerships with stakeholders, community leaders and other civil society partners to enhance their participation in support of project objectives

· Contribute to capacity building of the field team during their field work through supportive feedback Prepare and make optimal use of all available opportunities and capabilities (educational methods - laboratories if any) to achieve the goals of the school curriculum.

· Collecting and reviewing monthly reports from supervisors (supervisors and volunteers) and providing feedback to the field team.

· Collect measurable information about improvement in education during project implementation in coordination with school stakeholders Pledge to the official daily working hours, allocate full hours of work and perform tasks and duties efficiently and effectively.

· In coordination with the supervisors, develop an action plan to implement the awareness and other activities of the project and share it with volunteers after it is approved by the education officer.

· conduct bi-monthly meeting with volunteers and supervisors to discuss all relevant issues and develop a plan for the next period.

· Conducting frequent field visits to the target sites of the project and submitting a report on the results of the visits Seek to integrate his mission in the school with that of the family in the good education of its children

· Active participation in all project activities (engineering - awareness activities - distributions - trainings - coordination) as directed by the education officer. Study and teach the curriculum according to the set plan.

· Documenting and sharing lessons learned, achievements and successes from the field The use of modern methods and methods in teaching

· Leading the field teams and facilitating their work in implementing the project work plan. To prepare and maintain lesson files, student text and examination.

· Maintain close coordination between the field team, the community and partners and assist them in developing quality education. To carry out any other related duties assigned by the head of schools

· Assist and guide volunteers and project supervisors in carrying out their tasks and in organizing community meetings, workshops and campaigns

· Maintaining working relationship between team members and the community.

· Providing support and assistance to field teams (supervisors, volunteers)

· Archiving files related to the project (hard copies, electronic copies).

· Carry out any project related tasks (office or field) as assigned by the Education Officer

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Minimum bachelor's degree, preferably in education, social work, business, engineering, or any related field.
Previous relevant experience (6 Months) with Children/Youth education/Youth programs (planning, implementing/overseeing the implementation and reporting for education/livelihoods activities/projects) – formal education programs (academic, life-skills and recreational activities for Children).
Experience in dealing with public stakeholders within the Education system (e.g., school principals, Ministry/Directorate of Education representatives, communities).
Experience in organizing and/or conducting trainings, awareness sessions, workshops, etc.
Competence in using computer packages including Word, Excel and Power Point.
Familiar with Yemen context and geography. Ready to travel on mission into different Governorates.
Excellent written communication skills in English.
Good documentation and report writing skills.
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Ability to spend extended periods of time in field conditions.
Problem solver and, hard working with ability to work under pressure.
